Bio Platon Karataev:
Platon Karataev, named after a Leo Tolstoy character, was formed in 2016. With their music, the Hungarian indie quartet wanders around the core of existence, seeking answers through paradoxes, contemplating on questions by observing elements on an atomic level or viewing them from an astronomical perspective. After For Her’s (2017) instant success the band gradually moved away from their acoustic sound to a more broader one. Atoms (2020), with a heavier instrumentation, focuses on speaking about the most universal but on the most personal level with catharsis being a key element of the album. The upcoming new record (Nov 2021) will continue diving into the collective subconscious and will be followed by the band’s first Europe tour. In the past four years Platon Karataev not only gained attention on a local level but was recognized internationally, too with more than 5 million streams on Spotify mostly from the USA, the UK, and Germany. Besides three different German tours the band already performed at major festivals like Sziget, Reeperbahn, Zandari Festa Seoul, Moscow Music Week, and Liverpool Sound City.
Charades is a young Dutch band translating their most introspective thoughts into alternative dreamy music with a grungy emo twist. Bittersweet sounds combined with their apparent frustration results in dynamic and energetic rock shows.
After forming in the summer of 2015 and slowly finding their musical identity the band released their debut EP “Grey Pillar Sky” in 2017. ‘’Grey Pillar Sky’’ mastered by Jesse Cannon (Basement, Brand New, Dillinger Escape Plan, Misfits) got the band a deal with Dutch record label White Russian Records (Call It Off, March, Slow Crush). The first responses to the new band’s material have been nothing but amazing - with attention coming from magazines all over the world. After the debut the band played venues like Paradiso, Tivoli, Q-Factory and appeared at multiple showcases around Eurosonic Noorderslag 2018 and 2019. Charades has been working together with renowned names like Sjoerd van der Knoop (Face Tomorrow) and Carsten Brunsveld (John Coffey).
For their 2019 release “Floating”, they worked together with Belgium producer Michiel de Maeseneer (Balthazar). First single ‘’Spin Around’’ gave a first taste of the band’s new EP, once again released by White Russian Records. Online magazine All Things Loud’s description of the bands first single proved to be very spot on: ‘’This emo grunge banger is lathered in scuzzy guitars and echoed vocals, intricately bridging the gap between teenage angst and reckless abandon in a way only they know how’’.
